EXPLODE THE CODE Series This is an excellent series to start your little ones on for phonics sounds, penmanship, comprehension and spelling. In the upper level books, Book 1 teaches short vowel sounds, Book 2 teaches consonant blends, Book 3 teaches phonic units (i.e. sh, th, wh, etc.), Book 4 covers compound words, suffixes, syllable division rules and 3 syllable words. Book 5 teaches the sound families (i.e. all, alk, old, olt, etc. ) Book 6 contains material on ar, or, er, ir, and more. Book 7 covers soft c and g as well as silent letters. The final book, Book 8, teaches suffixes and ending sounds. Beside all this, penmanship & spelling practice are a part of every page. These books are a great way to get all of these concepts without spending the extra money. Children can move as quickly as possible through these books. The grade levels are only recommended. 78 pages per book, softbound.
