About Us
Anchor Publications had its “genesis” in 1969 as Al & Leah’s Goody Bag, offering a variety of items for profit. This venture failed due to lack of capital for adequate advertising. Therefore, the California business license was used to offer “Tracts” on a “not for profit” basis. These tracts were reprints of out-of-print, Scripturally sound publications. Thus, the name of “Scriptural Publications” was chosen. Because of an objection of another similar entity, the name was changed by adding “Anchor”; thus “Scriptural Anchor Publications”. Shortly thereafter, yielding to the criticism of too long a name, in the mid-70’s, we became “ANCHOR PUBLICATIONS.” We have moved from Yuba City, California to River Forest, Illinois; to Stockton, Kansas; to Glendale Heights, Illinois; to Hood River, Oregon; to West Point, Nebraska and since 2000 we have been in Sioux City, Iowa under the ownership of Mr. & Mrs. Michael Hobbs. Mr. & Mrs. Hobbs are the homeschooling parents of five little blessings!
Anchor Publications is a private enterprise and not affiliated with any church body. Our primary objective is to furnish scripturally sound books and literature to truth seeking people. Profits generated through all sales are used to promote this objective. We are happy to serve you and welcome your suggestions and comments.
If you do not find what you are looking for, please ask. We also purchase from a wide variety of sources and may be able to find something that has been unprinted for many years. If you have an out-of-print tract or booklet, which you would like to see reprinted, please share it with us. Whether we decide to reprint it or not, we will return it to you unharmed upon your request.
Other publications of either Concordia Publishing House or Northwestern Publishing House are available through us. Current projects include an entire, full-color Sunday school lesson series exclusively in the King James Version of the Bible. These are the Sunday School Lessons that your grandparents learned from! Lessons available will include primary, elementary, junior and senior levels. Project and coloring sheets coordinating with each series, will also be available. The Sunday school lessons will be made available in sections as they are completed. If you are interested, please let us know and we will keep you up-to-date on our progress and expected completion dates.
